Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: 26 August 2026

These Terms & Conditions apply when you book or use services provided by Hampshire Phlebotomy Services.

By booking an appointment, you confirm that you have read and understood these Terms & Conditions and agree to the terms that apply to the service you have requested.

1. About Our Services

Hampshire Phlebotomy Services provides independent mobile blood collection and ECG services, primarily within Hampshire and surrounding areas where agreed.

Appointments take place at the patient’s home or another suitable agreed location.

Our services may include:

  • Mobile blood collection

  • ECG recording

  • Blood collection using a request or requisition form supplied by you or your healthcare provider

  • Arranging eligible private blood tests through third-party laboratory providers

  • Arranging eligible ECG services through third-party cardiac service providers

The service required, price and any applicable additional charges will be explained before your booking is confirmed or displayed on our website.

2. Blood Test Requests and Forms

If you already have a blood test request or requisition form from your GP, consultant, healthcare provider or laboratory, you must have the form and any relevant documentation ready for your appointment.

If the required form or documentation is not available, we may be unable to collect your blood sample and the appointment may need to be rearranged.

Where eligible private blood tests are arranged by Hampshire Phlebotomy Services through an external laboratory provider, we will arrange and bring the necessary laboratory documentation for your appointment.

Hampshire Phlebotomy Services does not independently determine which blood tests you medically require. If you are unsure which tests you need, you should seek advice from your GP, consultant or another appropriate healthcare professional.

3. ECG Services

Where an ECG service is requested, Hampshire Phlebotomy Services may perform the ECG recording and, where applicable, arrange for the recording to be processed or reported through an external cardiac service provider.

An ECG recording is not, by itself, a medical diagnosis.

Where an ECG report is provided by an external cardiac service provider, you should discuss the findings with your GP or another appropriate healthcare professional if you require medical interpretation, diagnosis or treatment.

4. Laboratory Testing and Results

Hampshire Phlebotomy Services provides blood collection services but does not operate a pathology laboratory.

Where laboratory testing is required, samples are analysed by the relevant external laboratory.

Laboratory processing, analysis, reporting and turnaround times are outside our direct control. Any turnaround times provided are estimates unless expressly stated otherwise.

Where results are produced by an external laboratory or other provider, Hampshire Phlebotomy Services does not independently alter or interpret those results.

You should discuss your results with your GP, consultant or another appropriate healthcare professional where medical interpretation, diagnosis or treatment is required.

5. Preparing for Your Appointment

Being appropriately prepared can help make blood collection easier.

Unless you have been given different instructions by your GP, healthcare professional or laboratory, we recommend that you:

  • Drink plenty of water and be well hydrated before your appointment.

  • Keep yourself and your arms warm before the blood collection.

  • Follow any fasting or other preparation instructions provided for your particular tests.

  • Have your blood test request/requisition form and relevant documentation ready if these have been provided to you.

  • Tell us about any previous difficulties with blood collection.

  • Tell us if you have previously fainted or felt unwell during or after a blood test.

  • Let us know if you are anxious about needles or blood collection.

  • Tell us about any relevant information that may affect the procedure.

Please do not stop, delay or change prescribed medication unless an appropriate healthcare professional has specifically instructed you to do so.

Good preparation can assist with blood collection but cannot guarantee that a suitable blood sample will always be obtained.

6. Consent

Before a blood collection or ECG procedure is carried out, we will explain the procedure and obtain appropriate consent.

You may ask questions before or during the procedure and may withdraw your consent at any time before or during the procedure.

If consent is withdrawn, the procedure will be stopped as soon as it is safe to do so.

7. Children and Young People

Blood collection appointments are available for children aged 7 years and over, subject to individual assessment and appropriate consent.

A parent or legal guardian must be present where required and must provide any necessary medical information and test documentation.

We understand that children may feel anxious about blood tests. We will use a calm and patient approach and explain the procedure in an age-appropriate way.

We will not force or restrain a child to complete a blood collection.

If a child is too distressed, does not wish to continue, or we consider that proceeding would not be safe or appropriate, the procedure will be stopped or postponed.

We reserve the right to decline or discontinue a procedure where we reasonably believe it cannot be carried out safely or appropriately.

8. Unsuccessful Blood Collection and Rebooking

Every reasonable effort will be made to obtain your blood sample safely and professionally. However, successful blood collection cannot always be guaranteed.

Vein accessibility, hydration, temperature, individual anatomy and other factors can affect whether a suitable sample can be obtained.

If we are unable to obtain a suitable blood sample safely, we may recommend stopping the procedure and rebooking your blood collection for another day rather than continuing with repeated attempts.

You will be advised to prepare for the new appointment by being well hydrated and keeping yourself and your arms warm, unless you have been given different instructions by your healthcare provider.

You will not be charged an additional phlebotomy fee simply because the original blood collection was unsuccessful.

Where another home visit is required, our normal travel policy will apply. The first 10 miles from our base to the appointment address are included. For appointments more than 10 miles from our base, travel beyond the first 10 miles is charged at £0.50 per additional mile, calculated one way.

Any applicable travel charge will be confirmed before the rebooked appointment.

We will always prioritise your safety and comfort and will not continue repeated attempts where we consider it inappropriate to do so.

Nothing in this section affects your statutory consumer rights.

9. Sample Quality and Repeat Samples

Occasionally, a laboratory may be unable to process a sample or may request another sample.

This can happen for different reasons, including factors relating to collection, transport, sample stability, laboratory processing or analysis.

If another blood collection is required, we will explain the available options and any applicable charges before arranging another visit.

Where a repeat procedure is required because the service provided by Hampshire Phlebotomy Services was not carried out with reasonable care and skill, your statutory consumer rights will not be affected.

10. Home Visits and Access

You are responsible for providing the correct appointment address and ensuring that we can safely and reasonably access the agreed location at the appointment time.

Please tell us in advance about parking restrictions, difficult access, entry systems or other circumstances that may affect the visit.

The location must provide a reasonably safe and suitable environment in which to carry out the procedure.

We reserve the right to postpone, stop or decline an appointment where the environment is unsafe or unsuitable, or where continuing would present an unreasonable risk to the patient or practitioner.

11. Appointment Times and Delays

As a mobile service, appointment times may occasionally be affected by traffic, travel conditions, emergencies or unexpected delays at an earlier appointment.

We will make reasonable efforts to arrive at the agreed time and will contact you where there is a significant delay.

If Hampshire Phlebotomy Services is unable to attend your appointment, we will offer an appropriate alternative arrangement or, where applicable, a refund for a service paid for but not provided.

12. Prices, Travel and Payment

Current service prices are displayed on our website or confirmed before your booking.

Any additional charges applicable to your appointment will be communicated before the service is confirmed.

Travel Charges

Travel within the first 10 miles from our base to the appointment address is included in the appointment price.

For appointments located more than 10 miles from our base, a travel charge of £0.50 per additional mile applies to the distance beyond the first 10 miles.

Mileage is calculated one way from our base to the appointment address.

Any applicable travel charge will be confirmed before your appointment.

Laboratory testing, cardiac reporting or other third-party services may carry separate charges where applicable.

Weekend Appointments

Appointments on Saturday and Sunday are subject to an additional £40 weekend fee.

The weekend fee will be made clear before your appointment is confirmed.

Payment is required in accordance with the payment arrangements provided when booking.

13. Cancellations and Rescheduling

We understand that plans can change.

Cancellation, rescheduling, refunds and any applicable charges are governed by our separate Cancellation Policy, available on our website.

Any cancellation charge will be applied in accordance with that policy and applicable consumer law.

Where Hampshire Phlebotomy Services needs to cancel an appointment and the service cannot reasonably be rearranged, payments made for services that have not been provided will be refunded as appropriate.

14. Patient Safety and Conduct During Home Visits

We aim to provide a calm, respectful and professional service and expect the same courtesy in return.

We reserve the right to stop or decline an appointment where there is threatening, abusive, discriminatory or inappropriate behaviour, or where we reasonably consider the environment unsafe.

The safety and dignity of both the patient and practitioner will be prioritised.

15. Medical Advice and Emergencies

Hampshire Phlebotomy Services provides blood collection and ECG services within the scope of the service booked.

Our service does not replace medical consultation, diagnosis or treatment from your GP, consultant or another appropriate healthcare professional.

Hampshire Phlebotomy Services is not an emergency service.

If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, you should seek appropriate emergency medical assistance rather than waiting for a mobile blood collection or ECG appointment.

16. Third-Party Providers

Some services may involve independent laboratory providers, cardiac service providers, healthcare providers, couriers or other third parties.

Where an external provider forms part of the service you have requested, the information reasonably necessary to arrange or complete that service may be provided to them in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

External providers are responsible for the services they themselves provide, subject to applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes responsibility that Hampshire Phlebotomy Services is legally required to accept for its own services.

17. Personal and Health Information

We process personal and health information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available on our website.

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, how it is protected, who it may be shared with and your data protection rights.

18. Complaints

If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please contact us so that we have an opportunity to investigate and respond.

Further information about raising a concern is available in our Complaints Procedure on our website.

Making a complaint does not affect your statutory rights.

19. Our Responsibility to You

Hampshire Phlebotomy Services will provide its services with reasonable care and skill.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful or affects rights that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory consumer rights.

20. Changes to These Terms & Conditions

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to our services, prices, business arrangements or applicable requirements.

The version applicable to your booking will normally be the version made available when your booking is made, unless a change is required by law.

The date at the top of this document indicates when these Terms & Conditions were last updated.

21. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection law.
